Motherhood is what most women dreamed of, giving birth to a child is the opportunity that is given exclusively for woman. It is the most amazing experience a woman can have, the pain and joy of giving life to a child in this world. But not all women are blessed with the ability to conceive and give birth, and this is not on woman's side alone, there maybe a problem on either or both on the health condition of the couple. There are many reasons for the infertility of the couple, it could be generic or hereditary, caused by sickness, drug, smoking, stress and even age. Another factor is the sperm cell count of the male partner.
For a couple who are starting a family and wants to have children but not blessed to have one through the natural way, there is an option, to undergo IVF or InVitro Fertilization process.
IVF is the process of fertilization by manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish. When the IVF procedure is successful, the process is combined with a procedure known as embryo transfer, which is used to physically place the embryo in the uterus.
There are basically five steps in the IVF and embryo transfer process which include the following:
- Monitor and stimulate the development of healthy egg(s) in the ovaries.
- Collect the eggs.
- Secure the sperm.
- Combine the eggs and sperm together in the laboratory and provide the appropriate environment for fertilization and early embryo growth.
- Transfer embryos into the uterus source :www.americanpregnancy.org
