Health tip: Colon care

Why do we need to take care of our colon?
More and more people are suffering from colon cancer now compared to the past decades. The symptoms of colon cancer include changes in the bowel movements that persist longer than usual - whether it be constipation or diarrhea. Bleeding in the stool.
The colon is the last five feet of the digestive tract and located at the end of the small intestine and ends at the rectum. It is the body's wastebasket. It takes out toxins and waste from our body, so it is important to enhance and maintain the colon's ability to expedite the elimination of waste to reduce the risks of developing disease, which includes colon-rectal cancer.
When an incompletely digested food remains in the colon longer than a day, it ferments, when this fermented waste combines with the body's own bile acids from the liver, carcinogens can form.
Ways to maintain the health of our colon:
1. Include fiber in our diet, the best sources of fiber are vegetables and fruits.
2. Drink lots of water, 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. Colon absorbs water, lack of water and fiber, results in the longer transit time going to anus and the stools get harder that cause constipation.
3. Avoid to much intake of processed foods, like hotdogs and instant meals, even instant oatmeal. Eat food in its most natural state.

i agree, we should really take care of our colon, in fact it is relatively easy. just eat a well balanced diet and drinks lots of water and natural juices. it is really hard to avoid junk food nowadays because it has been a culture for us. hopefully organic food will be more affordable so we can go back to eating good food.
